Nick Heidfeld needs either to raise his game or else risk being booted out of BMW-Sauber as the German outfit becomes an increasingly strong presence on the grand prix grid – that is the view of one of the sport's expert commentators, and former Formula 1 star himself, Hans-Joachim Stuck.
Thats a little unfair as Robert has been running exceptionally well. Would not be surprised to see Kubica on the podium in Monaco.

yeah, and nick has been quicker before. besides, this is not news, it's not even a rumour, it's just one man's opinion.

The last sentence doesn't make sense. Heidfeld under pressure makes sense. Alonso not in line to replace him makes sense. Raikkonen not in line to replace him doesn't make sense. Of course he is. But much more likely 2010 than 2009.

Why is Alonso not a right fit for the team? A quiet, hard-working guy who is a genius with car development and setup? I would think BMW could very much use a guy like Fernando. McLaren certainly could.

Personally I don't see any reason to replace Heidfeld. He is a great driver and has obviously helped the team develop the car, and Kubica is a future superstar.
They both get the job done and you never hear any problems relating to their working relationship. Either way, unless something strange happens, I'd say BMW won't be fighting for either championship this year. As for next year, with the massive changes being put into place the grid is going to be reshuffled to a degree. Probably better to wait and see rather than try to sign a big driver for next year (who IMO is not need at BMW).
If it ain't broke..

And apart from being the 4th or 5th most successful German driver, what qualifies Mr. Stuck to be a good judge on how BMW should work?
(Note, perhaps a certain German World Champion might have realised that he should leave the bikes alone and find a nice seat in a German car...)

I've been saying this since Alonso left Mclaren for a return to Renault. He will replace Heidfeld at BMW next season, possibly with Heidfeld going the other way as part of a completely new line up at the Reggie, Heidfeld-Sato? Just a possibility.

i dont think nick has done anything wrong, esp in spain lol.
but if anyone was to replace him it would either be alonso or Rosberg. But Rosberg woudlnt make much sense with Kubika as u still need a driver with experience so stick with nick.
but in an ideal word, fernando.

why would BMW want a stroppy loser like Alonso. The Renault is rubbish with Alonso in it,hes had 5 races in renault now and it looks even worse than last years car.He couldnt develop a cold let alone a car. Mclaren powers that be,kicked Alonso out and BMW would not employ a traitor like Alonso

BMW don't seem real loyal to their drivers or business partners (Williams). After the way they dumped JV mid-season it would be a good idea to put a hefty buy out clause in the contract.
Mark, it was Williams who failed to make the partnership work with BMW. Fran Williams himself admitted this a week or so ago. And as for JV, I dont blame BMW for dumping his sorry a$$. I'm surprise they even brought him on board in the first place.
Stuck is just like the rest of the old heroes of the day. They need to get their two cents worth in so that they can be noticed. Everytime one of them opens their mouth it spews out crap about a driver in a usually unfair manner. Nick Heidfeld's only problem this year has been his qualifying, he would have scored points too at barcelona, it wasn't his fault there was a safety car was it? His race pace has been excellent and lap times as consistent as Kubicas. If he gets his qualifying right which even Thiessen admitted was because of his smoother style meaning lower temps then you will see that Heidfeld is no slouch compared to his team mate. Why change what works better than other teams?

Agreed Mr Stuck! Heidfeld is overated and is getting paid four times what Kubica's is. He is boring, to clinical and lacking the crucial mongeral element required to be a great formula one pilot. No doubting his experience and car set up knowledge but you need more than that to be number one. Alonso would be perfect for them!
The only period there is, is the one you are getting at the end of each month - my adored harebrained boy post his absurdity yet again.
