Fears of a Formula 1 ‘burnout' have been raised by the sport's team bosses, with the recently-released provisional 2009 calendar doing away with the traditional August break.
Nascar does what 32 races a year? True it's all in one country but it's a large one and the cars and equipment are all transported on the road. Some members of the team must be on the road pretty much non-stop from February until October.
I get pretty fed up of the moaning that comes from F1 sometimes.
Two wrongs don't make a right. If that's Nascar's schedule then that's stupid too. The engineers are not robots: they are normal guys with families just like everyone else. I bet you would be bitching if your company made you work all year with no break.

as much as i love F1, this is a silly outcry, what about these people who work for the NHS seven times a week? long hours, and for much less of the pay and this is only for february to november.. and the nurses, doctors all work all year, can't they cry out "burnout"? as much money as they're on i don't think they should be complaining...

3 people agree.
I don't work in F1 Ian. I would probably be willing to make more sacrifices to get into that elusive world than I would for my current job... It's part of the job, you accept that and get on with it, or do something else.
Anyway I get 4 weeks annual leave a year. F1 runs from March to October, how much holidays do the teams get in out of those months? Im sure they manage to get a few weeks in. Sure there is testing but it's not uncommon to have a seperate team engineers for that purpose. 20 races is perfectly doable.
Just something else for them to complain about. If there is ANY change "WAAAAAAA!". Things in F1 don't change nearly as much as the NASCAR rulebook every week.
Quite whining and get racing. The show must go on. It's not about you, it's about the fans which are short changed as it is.

NASCAR actually has 40 races a year and the drivers/teams are often running on the nationwide/trucks series as well. Man up F1 people.
