Markko Martin has signed a deal that will see him become the official test driver for the Subaru World Rally Team in 2008, as the Banbury-based outfit steps up its testing programme in preparation for the launch of its all new Impreza WRC car.
Well, this is certainly a very posative move for Subaru, I am so pleased to finally see Markko make a return to the WRC, even if it is in the form of a testing role, he has always shown so much potential to be one of the sports all time greatest, I only hope that maybe he ends up doing a few selected events in 2008 and possibly a full drive in 2009 for them. He can win on gravel and Asphalt alike. He is a comlplete driver. This is looking promising, I hope he gets the appetite to make a full return to the WRC as a driver. I think he would be a better proposition than Atkinson for Subaru. The WRC needs him too !!!

Greatttttttttttttt
I like Markko Martin, he is better than Solberg on cat setting up.
Solberg can set 10 different times his car during a rally, but Martin only use one set up from start to finish. that's shows hiis as talented as Marcus.
In Subaru, they are lucky!

This says to me that Petter and Atkinson can't set their cars up well enough to be competative.
I agree that Martin should get a full time ride. At least dump Pons for him!

Unfortunately, Markko keeps saying that he doesn't want to drive in champoinship. I'm afraid that his years in WRC are over... :-( Nothing in rallying I wish more than his return, but I'dont think there's a real chance...

It's true that Petter has no ability of setting up his car!!!
remember that he has onluy been competuitive when the car was set up by Tommy Makinnen. He 's not like Marcus or loen or markko.
Chris is better thatn him on that matter. look when they gave priority to chris to set up the car, he did well (greece, finland, germany, nzealand), then they came back to Petter and it worsen again. he just needed to take a 2 nd sit at Ford behind hilvonen or at citroen behind loeb
