Bayliss returned to WSBK in 2006, after three winless seasons in MotoGP, but made a sensational one-off grand prix return at the Valencia season finale, replacing the injured Sete Gibernau. Troy dominated the race and as such became the first rider to have won in WSBK and then MotoGP.
I hope Toseland can manage but he is comparing himself to Baylis who rode a 990 which was more similar to a Superbike in riding style. Corser would go better on an 800.

Im sorry... I admire the lads talent; but am I the only person who thinks he is a bit of a puke sometimes... I really cannot see him doing well next year...

A motogp 990 is nothing like a cbr1000...

I cannot beleive the nerve of toseland! Comparing himself to Bay, Nobody could do what Bayliss did in Valencia last year, He jumped onto a bike he had never rode on tires he had never rode and whooped the entire motogp paddock!! I am sorry to break it to all the brits but no Toseland will not do well next year, He is a good rider dont get me wrong but a Troy Bayliss he will never be!!!The guy thinks hes something hes not and hes in for a rude awakening next year!

Where does JT compare himself to Bayliss? During the article all he does is compliment him. The only comparisons are the SBK races this year when they were competing and the comparisons were valid.

There is an error in this article and in the tagline above; while I'd always hoped TB would be the first to score wins in WSBK and then MotoGP, Tamada in fact beat him to it.

I think you'll find a guy by the name of Mick Doohan did the WSBK/500cc(motogp) wins thing before anybody...

Thanks sonicman - I interpreted the article to be commenting on the 4-stroke era only, MotoGP, and not WSBK + 2-stroke GPs.

no doubt, bayliss is a fantastic rider, but JT is a fighter and if as he states he is on a good package then i believe he can be up there with the leaders(i wont say best because i dont believe all of them are some moved up too fast)Take Hodgson and Byrne heroes in BSB no decent package in GP.What a fighter James Ellinson was in GP but to no avail no money. So come on lads stop bickering and fly the flag for England.JT go man go.

If only JT got into a top factory team, then we would see his potential. A the end of last year wsbk JT tested pedrosa bike with pedrosa settings and went abit quicker then pedrosa did on the same bike from the race there the following weekend! I am a Troy bayliss fan, but i do like all the riders in wsbk. JT is good, Haga is one of the bravest riders out there, Corser on his day is can be unbeatable, and Bayliss is class! Good luck JT hope you do get a full factory ride one day in motogp! All the best next year

jt is typical brit- mansell and foggy- loud when they have the best equipment and then blames everybody but themselves for failure.
lets see what he does against the texas tornado! you compare yourself to your teammate first!the 800cc bikes are easier than the 990cc. see what schumacher did on casey's bike- you don't gain 10secs in three laps after a year!
