Despite being hampered by chatter, the Englishman enjoyed a reasonable third and final day, when he also got his first taste of the latest electronic and traction control systems.
This is very exciting just knew James had it in him when he gets new package some track he know well looking very good keep it up James

Toseland is progressing brilliantly, and seeing Bradley Smith top of the timesheets is great to see also. At last maybe we can see Brits mix it with the best in the world

chatter is temporary lack off grip of a tyre in an on/off fashion, giving vibration, increased tyre wear and general frustration to a rider as he can't get the power down or the right 'drive' out of a corner or onto a straight.
Chatter has nothing or very little to do with rubber. Its cause and effect is a result of suspension input overload, between the bumps in the road and the chassis, forces propagate bouncing, pogo'ing....chatter. the preload and rebound have been overpowered by the spring or in modern racing gas flow, and has failed to regulate the force of the spring that obsorbes the bumps and chassis feedback, chatter is generally a result of too hard a setting and can be remidy'd by less pre load and spring rate.
I'm not saying chatter has anything to do with the rubber, the tyre bouncing up and down in a self induced or maintained oscillating fashion, just like the vibration maintained by the natural frequency of a material. It can be that the cause lies in the forks but it occurs at the contact patch of tyre and road, like if it is bouncing, grip, no grip, grip, no grip
Whats going on. Have we all swallowed a dictionary or what. I'm all for a bit of banter but keep it understandable for the idiots out there.... like me.

[quote Gromm] chatter is temporary lack off grip of a tyre in an on/off fashion,
maybe you didnt understand what you were saying.......
Chatter occures between the road and the Chassis and everthing in between, tyres play little in this, loss of grip can be a side effect of chatter. Tyre grip in itself does'nt cause chatter.
Chatter is what happens when my wife and her friends get together for a cupa tea. or was that gosip!

Were in abit of a fine line as to what cause's chatter to mainly the front end (back end not such a problem because not such force is put through the tyre / suspension under braking).Basically chatter come through lots of components and murder to get rid of,you just about get it sorted put different compound tyre on and its back. so i say grip level does matter

No worries Morgue. Looked up what you said in the dictionary. All makes sense now.
Conger, what you said is the best explanation so far. You have obviously met my wife also.

Ace, I'm perfectly clear about what I'm trying to get across, just don't seem to get it formulated properly I think we talk about the same thing but differ on cause and effect issues. The tyre is not causing it, it is where it occurs and the vibration is felt throughout the bike, though certain parts are more susceptive to transporting it because of their construction.
James knows P island very well he must be looking forward to the test must look up his lap time when there in wsb.Got a good feeling about JT hope he does get same bike as works team sure he said when he sign that he was getting same as Rossi bar tyre's
