Rain will stop play in Qatar.

Sort Comments:

Rain will stop play in Qatar.

No wet weather riding at Qatar.

 1 people agree.

Goes to show what a ridicilous scheme this is, endurance racers don't stop when it rains at night.

Doh! Have they only just noticed or decided this?
It looks to be the case, otherwise why make the announcement.
I wouldnt have particularly wanted the lighs if it meant scrapping the races if it rained.
I dont know the weather stats for the track but anything over 1 in 10 (races wet to dry) and i'm not happy with this news.

It's all about money and TV schedules and nothing to do with the spectacle.

Whatever happened to Health & Safety concerns for the riders?

Surely it only rains in Quatar about 30 days of the year?

Yes morgue, endurance racers do indeed run regardless - but they have headlights on their bikes, they're not dependent on the external lighting

It shows what a ridiculous idea this floodlit racing is. It is also very unfair on the riders - Bradley Smith and James Toseland (and maybe all the riders)have been getting up at peculiar hours for more than a week to try to acclimatise to racing at a a strange time - it's bad enough having jetlag without the danger of racing when they should be asleep. I hope this is never repeated.

I think that this was a brave decision (on behalf of the organizers) as this might mean that the race could be canceled altogether if the rain started before the race. This is no small thing for them as a track of this kind gets only one or two chances per year to make any money.

On the other hand again... this is a track in the petro-dollar paradise. Never mind, lets just hope it doesn't rain and Pedrosa's bike runs out of fuel on the last turn of the last lap!

Simple solution - turn the lights off and lets see who has the biggest nadgers...

"great" if it does rain then i will be severly pissed off and i suspect it will be the same for every motogp fan. everbody has been looking forward to the season and if it does rain they should rethink the night race idea. i have not been a fan of this night race thing since they announced they are going to it i hope the get rid of the idea all together. this is just my opinion and you have the right to agree or disagree.

Hello to all ! I have lived all my life in Qatar and i am a big fan of Motogp for a really long time and i understand your concerns on rider safety and all. Trust me it has never rained at this time of the year. Yes it is a bit chilly at night but nothing like everyone is making it sound. My last visit at the Losail track was wonderful. I enjoyed every bit of the motogp testing and i definetly was amazed by the lightings around the track. Brings a sparkle to my eye and i am proud that my country has come forward and acheived what was expected. Please wait for the racing to start and then your welcome to voice ur opinion.

P.S. Just for info : Its bright sunshine this morning but windy
