Lorenzo ready to fight 'strong rivals'.

Having finished second on his MotoGP debut at Qatar, the predicted 130,000 plus fans due to descend on Jerez on Sunday will expect nothing less than a victory attack from the 20-year-old - although local loyalties will be split between Lorenzo and arch-rival Dani Pedrosa.

hmmmm.... I'm not so sure......

One things certain: it's only a matter of time before this guy wins his first race.
In Qatar he complaiened about feeling tired and cramped in the last part of the race,
let's see if the 'local hero' factor rids him of that...

Morgue. He's got the right attitude alright. He looks more serious and mature in MotoGP.

The thing that impresses me most is his metronome-like consistency. He rides the bike hard, but he barely gets out of shape, like Biaggi and to some extend Rossi.

A winner allright. I just hope he keeps his record clean and doesn't get into playing stupid politics.

Jerez is going to be a class race!!!I need to go there once...

Lorenzo is certainly showing the world how good the Yamaha really is and how good he is.New category and new bike and new team but still dominating..and straight away.Yamaha will want to keep this guy for sure.

ALL YAMAHA's are perfect. They really don't need Lorenzo for that.

Edwards, Rossi, Lorenzo, but also Toseland who is only sick right now, are running in Front.

Just don't forget that the Works Yamaha is the best AND the Michelins are the best Q-tyres. ONLY Lorenzo has that combination.

I certainly don't want to downgrade Lorenzo, who was awesome, but the result is the sum of the parts. Edwards and Toseland have a less powerfull version AND Rossi's got the inferior Q-tyres of B-stone...

So to be fair...All is relative ;)

Lorenzo is in the 'zone', just like Stoner last year he is brimming with confidence, suits the bike and can't believe what's happening to him. Almost a dreamlike state.
His achilles heel is wet weather performance, when you look at his record in the wet in the lower classes it isn't very impressive to say the least. It will be interesting to see how that situation works out for him on the Yamaha.

wouldn't compare him to stoner though Morgue..totally different personality..if anything not deceiving: like the "angelic" display and then kicking at Capirossi this time, same as he did in Checa and in an arrogant way...out of some hiding in his brain. Lorenzo is honest in his behaviour - and I agree he appears more mature here in motogp. at the end of the day - he had really raced with skill - JT nearly took him out last time, he fought and hung on and he's a fighter unlike our current "champion"

The new R6s aren't perfect Harryx, they're vibey as hell and I enjoyed riding a T 675 much more ;-)

Also Lorenzo was a champ last year so he comes from a winning mode and seems to be happy that he discovered that he has the potential to continue here in motogp..
yet, stoner never was in that mode before he started trusting the electronics/TC and discovered that him and the machine can do it. maybe if there was a device that does the steering - stoner would be unbeatable!

Gina: are you saying Lorenzo's Yamaha does not have traction control? Please elaborate.

No Im not.
what Im saying is that Stoner is not the most talented out there. there are better riders than him, more skillful - that can do much more magic.
what Im saying is that stoner is a flukey and that some electronics and combination of everything out there has put him somewhere where he doesnt belong.

Not met you before Gina but I don't think I'm going to agree with you on Stoner.
Sure - as we've kicked around here quite a lot recently - he does have and use a lot of electronic aids. So do the others - Why do ya s'pose Dani comes off the line like a rat out of a drainpipe? Partly because he doesn't weigh much more than said rat wet through true, but the rest of it is electronic launch control.
The other side of the coin's comparison with the rest of the riders on the Ducati. Dunno if you saw the calculations (think it was MCN) for last year - Casey more points than the other 3 Dukes combined. Looks like he's on track (err, when he manages to stay on track) to do it again this.
