Hayden rises to the occasion.

Sort Comments:

Hayden rises to the occasion.

While Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa led from start to finish, Hayden - just a tenth off the front row in qualifying - also got a storming start, rising to third place by lap 2 of 27.

Surprise man!...

He has capacity to win some race not much one or two maybe. But he has no chance being a champion again at least in 2008 ?

800cc is not his class actually but it is worth to watch him sometimes. In jerez he could be 3rd without fault. Anyway he should race because he is a colurful rider in MotoGP

Yay! Go Nicky! Great save too, almost as good as Colin's. Can't wait 'till Estoril - I'll be there!

Great race from Nicky, hope he keeps it going just to shut-up some of the ********** who have been giving him a bad time. He needs to work on the voice though, he's starting to sound more and more like Larry the Lamb...maybe he needs some of Marian Jones special hormone tablets

Great Race by Nicky

Once again and it wont be his last to get WHOOPED BY HIS TEAM MATE with less time on bike and nicky only got where he got by taking the spainards settings that information was clearly stated by toby and julian on eurosport.

he should be thanking his teammate which i doubt will happen.

What so Toby and Julian have access to the settings data on the bikes?

I've got a lot of respect for each of those guys, but I can't get Eurosport so I don't know what exactly was said. However, Julian says no such thing in his column on Superbikeplanet.com.

It doesn't make sense that Hayden is sharing Pedrosa's settings - he weighs a lot more and rides the bike differently than Pedrosa.

Full marks to Dani on a great race, but give Hayden credit for his efforts. He was in the running for a podium until the near-crash. Which was no fluke. If I or anybody else on this forum did it, it would be a fluke. With these guys, it's no fluke.

Can't wait for Estoril!

So where are all the naysayers that say Nicky can't develop a bike? He developed this one all winter, Honda only gives it (the latest chassis) to Dani for Qatar and he gets third. Dani wins the second race with Nicky 4th on his first weekend with the bike. Looks like a pretty good bike with no Pedrosa development time.

At these guys' levels they are all great riders, but Dani is just an a** as a person. Will he ever say the bike is performing well, I guess Nicky did a good job?

Nicky did not have his bike setup like Pedrosa at all, they had the same chasis but Dani had an updated engine.

Again, Dani with better equipment and Nicky only a few sec behind. If Nicky could ever get the factory to actually support him at the same level as Dani he would likely be dominant.

Nicky hasn't a dominant character but he's good rider and need to be respected by factory as Dani...so Hayden tested rc212v while Pedrosa was unavailable couse of his injury...where're Hayden haters?;P

Chris, if you listen to the drivel that the two divey commontators were saying then Hayden and Pedroboy did, all but a couple of nuts and bolts have the same kit (08 bike 07 engine). Im NOT a Pedroboy or Hayden fan but Pedro is quite simply better at the game than the Kentukey fried kid!...

Hayden spent all winter on the 2008 but when HRC propose to try again the 2007 bike he did choose to ride this bike for the race in Qatar because he was behind Dovi and De Puniet but Pedrosa did choose the 2008 with an upgrade chassis and prove that was the way to go, once again doing a lot of laps during a single day doesn't prove he is good at developping a bike, quantity doesn't mean quality, Pedrosa has been 125 and 250 champion, thoses bikes perform well when they are well set up, Pedrosa is a very small rider and when you see him riding the Motogp bike he must know what can work for him, so you don't do that without beeing good at developping a bike.

Bannaman is partially correct and Chris is entirely clueless. Hayden finally choose the 07 bike, after doing (typically) mammoth testing laps. Pedrosa, in Qatar testing gave HRC another direction. Perdrosa got HIS chassis for the Qatar race. Where was Hayden then, where was pedrosa then. At jerez, Hayden tested (and quickly rejected HIS bike) to race "Pedrosa's 08 Bike" and the results speak for themselves. In sum, Hayden's "testing" was a waste of time (and huge waste of money). TKK cant develop shiet, and if it aint self evident now, then nothing is
