Hayden on top as Jerez falls silent.

Hayden on top as Jerez falls silent.

While 16 of the 18 full time MotoGP riders had been present on Monday, only four race riders - Repsol Honda representatives Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa, plus Rizla Suzuki's Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen - returned for the final day, where they were joined by Kawasaki test rider Olivier Jacque and Michelin test rider William Costes.

I' m anxious to know if Hayden will win a GP or not again?...

Probably he will lead only in tests!!!

I think he'll win races this season, provided Honda gets the pneumatic engine right.

The '08 chassis already seems to be worlds better than where they started in '07.

Hayden's got to be counted among the contenders at the USA rounds as well as the other tracks he goes well at like Assen and Philip Island.

DIRK. while Pedrosa, Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, Toseland, Edwards, all the others and my Gran are on the track, Hayden want another race, I'll put my undercrackers on it.

Hayden is a surprise rider? It' s difficult to assume his victory before any racing!...

His style is not aggressive as we hoped. If they use the same bike, I bet on Toseland instead of Nicky???

Anyway good to see him by leading also in test!!!

Hmmm,

Kentucky kid in AMA or WSBK?

A little bit early to say on his exit but 250cc patriot Simoncelli could race better than him on Honda HRC!...At least more amazing to watch him!!!

Zx9r steve,

You know in recent years generally MotoGP riders race in WSBK before retirement and maybe it could be nice to see him and wait for what happens?...

Simoncelli? Why not? At least he should try!...He seems crazy on bike???

Hayden has NO killer instinct and NO agressive edge. When he is passed on race day by another rider he emotionally shuts down instead of attcking. He is however a consistently good rider, and if he's on his game, the planets are in alignment, and if the premiere riders (Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa) suffer some type of horrible mishap, Hayden COULD POSSIBLY win again! But I doubt it.

All you red/white/blue banner wavers should be looking towards Ben Spies to bring home the trophy, I'd say sometime in the next 5 years.

The way some of you guys put your point across makes it way too obvious you're using nothing but blind prejudice. At least show a little bit of intelligence?

Nicky Hayden has no 'killer instict'? Yeah, right. What is the problem so many people on this forum have with Nicky Hayden? Is it an anti-American thing? Give the fellar some respect. He sure as hell deserves it. Still up there despite HRC's disinterest and kicked Rossi's ass in 2006.. Maybe that's the problem? Anyone who beats Rossi is the anti-Christ yes? I notice there was a similar response to Casey's win last year.

I think you're right on the money, Mattjam. There are definitely too many blind cheerleaders in here - in that if their boy doesn't win, the whole world has gone to pot. The guy obviously works hard and woe be to the motogp world if that one thing starts to click regularly. While visiting some friends in the colonies in 2000, I was lucky enough to be taken to the Springfield Mile in Illinois and Nicky was there(on a Harley!)and wasn't just riding at the back either. I think he ended 5th or 6th, but he led at times and clearly had to speed and skill to win. Doing what he's done on a bike clearly meant for Dani is quite respectable I'd say.

Mattjam, I don't think there is any anti american thing, the year N.Hayden won the championship it was quite strange because many peole didn't want to see Rossi to be World champ again, that year N.Hayden won the championship with only two win and a low average scoring points, even he deserve it, for some people the way he won it was not up to the standard, before him Roberts suffer similar critics, Criville too even I won six races that year, today there is younger riders filling up the grid and if the old guard is not figthing with them then they got hard time.If tomorow Hayden start to be on the podium at every single race an win some of them then you will see how people will react.

Haydens only problem is that he is "too big" for the 800cc Honda. He will never get the same acceleration or top speed as Dani as he is some 15-20kg heavier and much wider than Dani. Just look at the starts Dani manage with the Honda, one thing is that the electronics are so effective (when they don't flip him backwards.. :-) ) the other thing is that he is so light, roughly speaking a = F/m is the issue.
Dani also manage good top speed as he is so small and can hide "in" the bike while Hayden is more like a "sail". Same thing you can see if you observe Xaus vs Biaggi. Xaus is "large" and Biaggi is tiny. Also on the brakes the little people have an advantage other the "trolls".... :-)

One must also be careful about being anti American, as the American president is quite unbalanced... if Dani will continue to beat Hayden like that, Bush might invade Spain, or even more invade Japan as HRC are Japanese and favoring Dani. The history between USA and Japan is quite "edgy"!!

By no mean, Hayden and Xaus are not trolls, just a bit "ironic" about the size issue that favors the smaller 250cc newcomers, they (Hayden, Xaus) actually have more chance of getting a job i modeling (then for example Dani) as many girls consider them as good looking, something a troll is definitely not :-)

I have no doubt that if MotoGP was a real open category, thus at least 1000cc and no electronics, then a guy like Hayden will a natural contender for the title day in and out. No way Dani will manage to control a real "beast" bike like Hayden, Rossi or somebody from dirt racing as Stoner.
