Bridgestone: MotoGP tyre war even.

Bridgestone: MotoGP tyre war even.

With race wins divided equally between Bridgestone and Michelin during the first four rounds of the 2008 MotoGP World championship, Tohru Ubukata, manager of Motorcycle Race Tyre Development at Bridgestone, believes the tyre war is 'about as even as it could possibly be'.

There's not a chance for the clown to win on Michelin's homeground, so by the end of the race he will have only one win out of five. That's a pitiable situation, he must be crying now over his folly of changing tyres.

First post to me!

(get it you all?)

I'd say Rossi's on a steep learning curve with Bridgestone and there's probably more to come. At the looks of it, we have a four way championship fight. That hasn't happened since... err? Which is GOOD, I'd love a scrap for the championship. And the more contenders, the better.

If the clown can't win on Michelin's homeground, can the red flukey? He'd blame again the mechanic/b'stone for recommending the wrong tyre. You can say whatever about the clown, but where's the red flukey standing now? Right behind the clown's ass!

This is a war between tyres and TC software engineers.
Power is so 20th century.
Good old combustion engines don't matter as they used to.
The cap of 21 litres is the best rule ever, get rid of power
when what you really need is grip.

why is the level of discussion so goddamn low in these topics? the average commentator talks so respectless about the most respected and talented motorcycle racers in the WORLD, its absolutely disgusting!

anyway i hope that bridgestone and michelin will get even closer and closer so we can see some great fights between individual riders instead of tyre brands!

The level of discussion is very good except when certain individuals with inverted digestive direction try to solve their existential problems by insulting everyone else around here and causing constant controversy and flaming.

Typical teenage behaviour, I wouldn't wonder if I heard they aren't more than 15 years old.

For the last few days that they didn't dare say anything (because of certain race results) we had a very good discussion.

The only time you can be sure there is a balanced discussion on this forum is when Casey Stoner doesn't do so well... why? because Ace 27 and his fellow inmate Marty Cowan don't say a word for a few days through sure shame... Even people who hate Rossi will come up with fair points of view... If Casey wins another race this year, you can be sure that within minutes they will be gloating like mad and again spouting their usual rubbish (note guys - people have cottoned onto you that you are school kids). If he gets thrashed (again) by Rossi, Pedrosa or Lorenzo they will be quiet for a few days before once again trying to rile people up to make themselves feel better. Give it a rest eh boys?

Talking about tyres, having a single manufacturer would boost spectacle a lot as it has been shown with WSBK. The problem is none of them is willing to provide for the whole field, which was shown last year when the "control tyre" rule was proposed.

Iam all for a single tyre rule at least the fair weather yellow kool aid brigade would stop their constent whining about unfair advantages.... problem then of course they would probably start to complain predictably about all and sundry electronic aids, auto pilots and robot bionic throttle hands etc!

Part 1:

No to a control Tyre. As most of the riders have already expressed: it is a prototype class of racing, including tyres. If there is a control tyre, the tyre company will not put in the amount of research that that would if there is competition.

At the moment Michelin is streets ahead in qualifying tyre and only a small amount ahead in race tyre.

I think it's lucky that Bridgestone signed Rossi (or the otherway around), because if Rossi stayed with michelin, bridgestone would be a fair bit behind.

Part 2:

Personal opinion: The new tyre rules may have helped bring michelin back to bridgestone. Last year michelin seemed to struggle with the limit on tyres. Plus it helps michelin cause that all the Yamaha machinery is strong this year. (+ Pedrosa).

Sorry about bringing the responses back to tyres.

Actually having even more competitive tyre manufacturers would only be good thing and throw more spice into the equation!
Or better still in a perfect world having the option of maybe more than one manufacturers tyres available at any race on any given circuit/condition.
