German Grand Prix - Preview.

MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner roars into the Sachsenring this weekend chasing his third consecutive victory of the 2008 season.

Lets see some good close racing at last.....it seems most of the excitment so far has been the days before the race FP, and Qualifying!!!

50% chance of RAIN (race day) which the way I see it means its gona rain 50% of the day... just hope its not at race time....
check wunderground Sachsen...
but it will make for an exciting race, with the likes of Guintoli, Elias and Vermeulen water dogs running to the front...

Go Rossi and DP, there is no doubt that this is a major race. Casey is now talking about leading the championship before the break(autosport) I make that two races???? If he doesn't win with his current 'enthusiasm' it could be devastating for his championship, from what he's said he thinks he's already won Laguna Seca......
Personally I'm backing everyone else..

@Robbie: I like that one. I am sure Casey would get the respect he deserves.

Concerning the wheather, indeed they predicted rain. I hope it stays dry coz I'm gonna be there.

Maybe he should start showing respect for other riders and the public, then the rest will follow.

Oh naughty little Casey's shown disrespect has he? By beating Vale? By being the only fellar who can ride the Ducati? By not giving a sheeet if he offends fans by saying Donington's a crap track (when it is). Holy sheeet some fellars are clueless ****s (and I'm not talking about Casey)

pagoda (duke puke) and Morgue why always with the negative comments. It's making you both look petty. If the great man Rossi ever read what you two and some others write he would be disappointed.

Back on topic I'm hoping it is wet for a change. It looks like from some other practices Dani is getting better in the wet and I'd really like to see if he could keep it up for a whole race. Although a dry race at this circuit could also make some good close racing.

The main thing I'm interested in hearing any opinion on is the Yamaha upgrades Rossi was talking about a few weeks ago that they will be trying at the practice after Bruno. Does anyone think they will risk bringing them out untested if Casey & Dani finish in front this week?

I think Yamaha suffered last year by bringing technical changes in mid season – it may have been these technical retirements that lost the 2nd place in the championship for Vale – there is always a risk in changing horses mid stream. The Yam is a dominant package at the moment with one exception and that is CS. At the moment the minor changes to the Duc have allowed CS to win at a 5th gear track (Donington) as the corner speed of the Duc is dramatically better than it was. Valentino has to improve his starts to run with CS. DP and CS can run away to quick for Valentino to ply his magic and catch them if he makes a bad start and I see this as the fundamental difference to previous years.

Andy I agree it's risky and they probably have enough points over Casey to wait until Bruno but if Dani wins they may get worried. Just to clarify the improvements I read about where electronic, described as something similar to the improvements made to Ducati after Spain.

I also agree Rossi really needs to work on his starts in the past he could afford to fall back several positions and then come through, but with the way the new guys start it makes things too difficult. Which may be why he made the mistake last race. Seeing major competitors disappearing of the front and trying to hard to get through the pack

Morgue, would that be respect as shown to Gibernau (re hex/curse ) or to Biaggi ?

Just wondering .

It shows in Stoners demeanor in practise, the hissy fits in qualifying, the kicking and fingerpointing and general behaviour (or lack of interest) towards the public. He is not a popular rider, You can see it when visiting a race (and I don't mean P.I.).
You can argue that he doesn't have to be as long as he wins, fair point but then he shouldn't whinge when being booed.

And stop dragging Rossi into every discussion,

Totally agree Morgue, if you don't give why complain when you don't get it back.....

Any Roo-- The yam is the dominant package except for Ducati...who's leading the championship??...yep a honda.....jeez you cult guys are so deluded and biased you make what you consider informed opinion sound like school girl fanboyism..
Rossi doesn't need to risk the upgrades. Ducati is fast yes but we don't know what Rossi found at Assen(apart from cold tyres being a pain.. )If DP beats Rossi he will also beat Ducati.. don't think he'll lose sleep over five points, Rossi was way faster than ducati when bikes were equal...look at Mugello, Catalunya..

Just read the Stoner article on Autosport...at least he's consistent, at any level in any social structure that kind of attitude would get you laughed at and hammered in equal measure....couldn't happen to a nicer guy.....

Just read the Autosport.com article and I am confused at what you Stoner haters are on about. He says he is suprised at how big the turn around was and that it would be great if they could close the gap before the break. Ummm what is the problem with that? Is the problem that to close the gap he has to beat Rossi? I could see how that could be a problem for groupies if anyone says they are going to beat your God then you declare a Holy war.

pagoda (duke puke) the most delusional person on this forum is probably you. Ducati the best bike how! Edwards (nice guy but not a race winner) came from last to third last race and Yamaha regularly have three bikes finishing before any other manufacturer even have 2. It's plain for everyone to see except that blinded fanboy Yamaha is the best machine and you know absolutely nothing if you pretend it isn't.

Saying that I believe in the right hands all the bikes are reasonably even. With race winning advantage on the day more due to set up.

Morgue every other rider has done exactly the same thing in the past, why do you always criticise one guy.

There are two very distinct groups on this forum. The fanboy's (both sides morgue, pagoda, ace) who have nothing constructive to offer and the true race fans likes CA who have useful information/ideas that are worth reading. Hopefully once the blind followers disappear more true riding fans will come out.
