Monteiro scores first WTCC victory in race 2

Even though it was Chevrolet's Alain Menu who started from the reverse grid pole for race two after getting mugged by the Leons of Monteiro and Muller in the first event, it proved to be another diesel-powered SEAT annihilation (with Coronel's petrol version slotting into fourth) as the various Leons came through to sweep the most important positions by the chequered flag. The race also provided second year driver Tiago Monteiro with his first victory after switching from Formula One, as the Portuguese produced a flawless drive to lead from the first corner. An ecstatic Monteiro said, “I'm very happy because this is my first victory thanks to a car that adapted perfectly well to the track and great teamwork. We've scored a lot of points for SEAT which is the most important. And I'm personally very happy.”

Yet another race series ruined by the guys responsible for formulating the regulations! I might as well watch Renault Clio or other one make racing! It seems that only drivers in SEAT's have a chance to win this years title,it used to be that virtually the whole field had a chance of victory.Another series I will not be watching unless changes are made!

How can one disagree with Dave's comment????
The diesels have a 2 litres capacity as the petrol engines, but they are turbocharged !!!

I have never seen any category of motorsport where turbocharged and aspirated engines have the same capacity while they are supposed to race in the same category, NEVER!

WTCC was a fantastic series, it is now nothing more than a showroom for the almighty VAG group to showcase their stinking diesel cars and to make the man on the street believe that Diesels are superior to petrol engines.

Le Mans and its derivatives (LMS and ALMS) and WTCC and probably soon all other TCCs in Europe are sold to diesel manufacturers, F1 is ridiculous for ages, only WRC now.

As I have said before how much longer are the authorities going to jump to Seat's tune. They need to amend the regulations immediately or it's going to be the most one sided championship in history.

It will also be a short history because other manufacturers aren't going to join such a biased championship.

Just wait and see, Andy Priaulx doesn't need the best car... I'm sure in the end he'll somehow sneak up and win it right in front of Seat's noses.
