Mark Webber tips his hat to Isle of Man TT hero McGuinness

F1 star Mark Webber has spoken in glowing terms about the Isle of Man TT races.

Fresh from his Monaco victory, Webber was present when Mountain master John McGuinness won his 18th TT race in last Saturday's Superbike event.

McGuinness and Webber have become friends and the legendary road racer stopped on his way to the winners' enclosure to embrace Webber afterwards.

Ahead of this weekend's Canadian F1 Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing superstar said: “The highlight for me between races was going to the Isle of Man TT.

“It's an absolutely amazing sporting event if you love motorsport, it's a must to go to.

“And to see John McGuinness, a friend of mine, win again – all of the riders are obviously heroes but John's had such a great record around there it was really good to see all that come together again for him.

“[I] took some mates and we had just an absolutely great time. It was really good last Saturday.”

McGuinness is bidding to claim his 20th TT victory in the prestigious Senior race, which will be held over six laps of the infamous public roads course on Saturday.

It is great to see the level of respect from other racers in other disciplines for the road racers. I still remember seeing Rossi at Ago's Leap a couple of years ago watching with an open mouth like a little kid.

I've just watched the Mc'Guinness program on ITV4, and the humility of the man is incredible, not a bad word to say about anyone. What a great man. Every time he goes past crosby he asks Dave (D.J.) to look after him! Fantastic.
