Spengler given grid penalty

Bruno Spengler has been dropped to eighth position on the grid for the latest round of the DTM in Spain after being stung for being too low on fuel after qualifying.

The Canadian had put his Mercedes fourth on the grid but was forced to stop on the cooling down lap after running out of fuel. Scrutineers later decided the remaining fuel did not conform to regulations.

As such, Spengler slips from fourth to eighth on the grid, promoting Gary Paffett, Timo Scheider, Mattias Ekstrom and Alex Premat up a position.
