Kristensen adds to Le Mans record

Tom Kristensen was pleased to add a DTM pole position to his record-breaking Le Mans repertoire as he led his rivals around the legendary French circuit.

Although the Bugatti configuration of the Le Mans circuit is a pale comparison to the layout that has yielded Kristensen's eight sportscar victories, his pole position is no less important as he plays a part in the title fight.

His second pole position of the season, Kristensen will be crucial to Audi in order to help Timo Scheider in his fight for the title with Mercedes' Paul di Resta.

“Le Mans is quite a special track for me,” he said. “But with the DTM, the only thing we have in common is the pit lane exit. The rest is totally different. Being on pole position here is very nice. For me, the season has had some highs and lows.

“It is very close out there. I am all the more happy with having found that little extra here. The weather forecast says that it might be raining. In that case, I hope that I will have the right tyres on. Last time, I didn't.”
