Scheider seals title with Hockenheim win

Canadian Bruno Spengler and Tom Kristensen rounded out the top five, the former getting a warning on lap 4 after a collision with Martin Tomczyk. Spengler was also involved in a tangle with Maro Engel and Alexandre Premat some 7 laps later.

Veteran Bernd Schneider bowed out of the sport with a solid but unspectacular sixth with Ekstrom finishing up seventh.

Tomczyk completed the points' scorers in P8, 17 seconds up on Mike Rockenfeller, while Oliver Jarvis was tenth followed by Gary Paffett, Maro Engel and Alexandre Premat. Ralf Schumacher was 14th and the last of the classified runners, having lost time with an off.

Of the five retirees four of them went out early on when Christijan Albers spun following a collision with Markus Winkelhock, who was himself pushed by Mathias Lauda. Susie Stoddart also failed to complete more than 2 laps. Katherine Legge was the only other runner that didn't go the distance, although she at least managed 26 laps.

good race by timo and paul. however, until the last few laps, the eurosport commentators only had eyes for de resta, and basically ignored the fact that the championship leader was in front for the whole race. anyway, some poor driving by several down the field, running to team orders, in BOTH camps.
interesting penalty and method of serving, for ekstrom. this could have benefits in F1.
