Green joins di Resta in slamming Ekstrom

Britain's Jamie Green believes that Mercedes team-mate Paul di Resta has good reason to feel 'disappointed' with Mattias Ekstrom following last weekend's season finale at the Hockenheimring.

Green, who finished third on Sunday, was right with di Resta and Ekstrom when the two got a little too familiar on the opening lap and he reckons the 2007 DTM champion was far too aggressive.

Speaking following the race, Green said it was reminiscent in a way of his own run in with the Swede at the Circuit de Catalunya back in September, when a final lap fracas resulted in Ekstrom being excluded.

"On the first lap at the hairpin, Mattias Ekström blocked the inner line; when Paul went to the outside, Ekström tried to push him aside - I already know these manoeuvres by him from Barcelona," Green stated.

"I was able to pass on the inside and was second. When Paul closed in I didn't want to obstruct his race [as he had a chance to take the title].

"This year I have won twice and until two races ago I was still in contention for the title. Unfortunately I also had a problem with Ekström at Barcelona and lost my chances for the championship."

Green's fellow countryman Gary Paffett meanwhile finished eleventh and having got the best results over the course of '08 with a 2007 machine, he gets the prize for the best-placed driver with a year-old car.

"My race was quite okay," said Paffett. "However, I struggled with oversteer and was not able to move up in the race."

what sour grapes. it is common in DTM for things to get a little boisterous, and mercedes have given as good as the got. remember last year, when all the merc drivers took off the audis and audi withdrew in disgust? and even this year, there have been numerous cases where mercs have ahunted audis off the track. so a little bit of payback must have been expected. in the end, di resta was just not fast enough so he should not be looking for excuses.
