Bruno Spengler has been announced as BMW's third confirmed driver for the Munich marque's comeback
DTM season.
Spengler will leave Mercedes after completing seven seasons for the three pointed star, and joins Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus in the BMW line-up.
During his time at Mercedes, Spengler notched up nine victories while narrowly missing out on the championship on four occasions, making him one of the most respected drivers on the grid.
That consistency and experience made Spengler one of the main targets for BMW as it evaluated drivers for its programme, with motorsport director Jens Marquardt pleased to get his man.
“Outside our current line-up, Bruno Spengler was one of our top choices," he said. "Despite his youth he has a lot of
DTM experience, which will greatly assist us during our development phase and on race weekends.
"For this reason, we did not hesitate when the opportunity to sign Bruno up arose. We have yet to decide which of our three teams he will drive for. That will be announced at a later stage."
BMW Team Schnitzer, BMW Team RBM and BMW Team RMG will all enter two cars next season.
