Werner completes BMW line-up

Dirk Werner becomes the sixth BMW driver for the 2012 DTM season
BMW has completed its line-up for the 2012 DTM season after naming Dirk Werner as its sixth driver.

Werner tested the new M3 DTM last year and will now join Martin Tomczyk, Bruno Spengler, Andy Priaulx, Augusto Farfus and Joey Hand in racing the car.

BMW has yet to announce which of its three teams each driver will race for.

"As the sixth driver, Dirk Werner is the ideal way to complete our driving line-up," BMW motorsport director Jens Marquardt said. "Dirk convinced us he was the right man during the tests.

"The result of our efforts over the past few months is a line-up that we believe will achieve great things in the DTM. It boasts speed, experience and a host of international titles. I am pleased that our line-up has such an international feel to it. Two drivers from North America, a South American, a Brit, and two German drivers: our team also offers fans a lot of variety."

Like Hand, Werner competed in the ALMS last season in an M3 GT and also raced at Le Mans [pictured].
