After winning such an enthralling race in spectacular style, Jamie Green admits he is 'proud' of his
DTM Norisring success.
Green, now second in the
DTM standings, has proven to be something of a Norisring specialist, scoring four victories from the last five staged at the popular street circuit.
The HWA man's final corner victory also denied what seemed ten laps prior to be a certain BMW victory in the shape of Martin Tomczyk.
“I am so proud of my success,” said an elated Green. “The race was hard, but I felt really well in the car.”
The Brit revealed while everyone else seemed to be struggling in the greasy conditions, his tyres seemed to grip up, enabling the Mercedes man to claw back the BMW's advantage.
“On the last ten laps, my tyres built up an immense amount of grip and that enabled me to win,” he confirmed.
Green's victory was also the tenth Mercedes Norisring success in a row, as Mercedes motorsport chief, Norbert Haug pointed out.
“That was nothing for people with weak nerves, a real thriller,” said Haug. “Jamie has done a really good job.I knew that he had the speed and I was hoping for a win.
“The tenth win in a row at the Norisring is making me very happy and proud. However, we remain on the ground, we will not start thinking that we are unbeatable here.”
