Mortara hails 'race of his life'

Audi driver Edoardo Mortara has hailed his Zandvoort triumph as the 'race of his life'.
Mortara, who started the race from fourth, overcame frequent rain showers and two safety car periods to come out on top after a thrilling a battle with Audi team-mate Mike Rockenfeller to record his second career DTM victory.
The Italian, fast becoming a sweetheart of Audi, now moves into fourth position in the championship, giving the Rosberg man an outside chance of the title with three rounds still to go.
“This was the best race of my life, a really tough battle with 'Rocky',” said the jubilant 25-year old. “Conditions were incredible: rain, dry, then rain again.
“When you are driving in such conditions, you can get off the track on every lap.”
Audi boss Dr Wolfgang Ullrich meanwhile was delighted to see Audi back on top after what has been a trying year so far for the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer.
“This was an exciting race with a fierce battle between the three Audi teams,” said Dr. Ullrich. “It is nice to see that the performance is there. Now, we are there again where we always want to be: capable of winning.
“Here at Zandvoort, we were strong as an entire team,” Ullrich concluded.by Simon Evans
