Glock pleased with DTM debut

24 January 2013

Timo Glock said he was pleased with the outcome of his first DTM test after joining BMW for the final day of running in Valencia on Thursday.

Fresh from losing his drive in F1 with Marussia, Glock joined BMW works drivers Bruno Spengler, Augusto Farfus, Andy Priaulx, Martin Tomczyk and Marco Wittmann for the test, with GT racer Thomas Biagi also making his DTM bow as a reward for winning the BMW Sports Trophy last year.

Having worked with a number of team members during his time with the BMW Sauber F1 team, Glock said he had soon been made to feel at home and had been given a positive impression of the car from his first outing,

His future plans currently remain unclear, with the DTM being seen as one possible option with a vacancy in the BMW line-up for 2013.

“My first impressions of the BMW M3 DTM were very positive,” he said. “It did not take me long to get used to the car, and I came to understand it better with every lap. The fact that we were able to test in all conditions, from wet to dry, was perfect.

“I have been given a sensational welcome by everyone in the BMW Motorsport team, and even knew a few people from my time as a test driver for the BMW Sauber F1 Team.”

Glock wasn't the only ex-F1 man in action, with Robert Kubica completing his test with Mercedes.
