Tomczyk loses Brands Hatch pole position

BMW's Martin Tomczyk has been stripped of pole position for this weekend's DTM race at Brands Hatch for failing post-qualifying technical inspection.
Mike Rockenfeller will start from pole position for the second round of the 2013 DTM championship on Sunday on the Indy circuit at Brands Hatch, after original pole winner Martin Tomczyk had his qualifying times deleted.

The 2011 champion's BMW M3 DTM was found to be underweight in post-qualifying scrutineering, and as per the regulations the race stewards excluded Tomczyk's time forcing him to start the race from the back of the grid. It had been Tomczyk's maiden DTM pole for BMW Team RMG.

The decision promotes Audi's Mike Rockenfeller to pole position for the race, his second pole in the series - the first occasion also being at Brands Hatch back in 2011. The 29-year-old German driver will be joined on the front row by Augusto Farfus in the BMW M3 DTM.

Two further BMW representatives - American Joey Hand and champion Bruno Spengler - will now start from the second row. The best Mercedes qualifier - Gary Parfett - moves up to 11th place on tomorrow's starting grid.
