Gary Paffett has hailed the hard work of his Mercedes team following his emphatic victory at the Lausitzring on the weekend.

Paffett had struggled in the opening three rounds of the DTM season, having finished a race no higher than fourth, but drove a convincing race to take his 20th win of his DTM career.

The Brit, who has now risen to third place in the standings on 47 points, paid tribute to the car's performance across the weekend: "My EURONICS Mercedes AMG C Coup? was simply brilliant to drive the whole weekend," he said.

"After the Saturday session, a lot of commentators were assuming that we had set the car up specifically for qualifying, but even in race trim, we were very fast. It was a bit more difficult for us on the option tyres, but we were able to pull away from Mike Rockenfeller on the primes."

Paffett's victory capped a strong weekend for the Mercedes-Benz team, with Christian Vietoris also scoring a podium finish for the second time this season in third. Other Mercedes drivers' Robert Wickens, Daniel Juncadella and Roberto Merhi were also on hand to complete top ten finishes.

Paffett has highlighted the hard work of his Mercedes team as the reason for the improvement in form, and says the result is the perfect reward: "After the disappointing start to the season, the team has really got stuck in over these last couple of weeks," he added.

"This victory is the perfect reward for all our hard work. It's been a while since I last won a race. This one is all the more satisfying because it's my twentieth in the DTM."
