Farfus: Moscow podium felt like a victory
7 August 2013
BMW's Augusto Farfus has said his podium, scored during last weekend's DTM Russian debut, felt like a victory given the circumstances.
Farfus ended a four-race podium-less streak with his third place at the Moscow Raceway, finishing behind the Audi duo of Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekstrom as the best placed BMW.
The Brazilian had started the season in the strongest way possible with a victory at Hockenheim but then endured a run of bad luck - including retiring from a sure to be podium position at Brands Hatch, scoring only eight further points up until Moscow.
Farfus admitted BMW still remain off the pace despite taking the championship by storm in the opening races.
“It is great to be back on the podium,” said Farfus.
“This third place feels like a victory because I couldn't have done any better. There was no margin for error and I had to push the entire race. We, as BMW, were not extremely competitive at Moscow, which made it a tough Sunday.
"My two stops were great and I feel the last stint on primes was the best for me. I enjoyed the circuit, and had a positive debut in Moscow.”
