Nürburgring: Spengler vows to bounce back

Bruno Spengler: I will be back strong as a lion in Oschersleben.
BMW's Bruno Spengler has refused to give in on claiming a second successive DTM title, promising to bounce back 'as strong as a lion' next time out at Oschersleben following a disastrous string of races.

Spengler has fallen to fourth in the championship standings after yet again failing to score a point at the Nurburgring.

The 30-year old has only scored 14 points over the last four rounds compared to the 53 he gained during the opening three races.

The Canadian was involved in the first corner melee, which as Spengler says damaged his M3 for the remainder of the race – resulting in a 14th place while championship leader Mike Rockenfeller finished in fourth, adding a further twelve points to his lead.

“My car was badly damaged after the very first lap,” said Spengler.

“I could still hold onto my place among the leaders in the rain, but was struggling as soon as the track started to dry out. That was obviously a set-back for us, but one thing is guaranteed: we will not give in.
