Rockenfeller ‘eager’ to get back to work

11 September 2013

Audi's Mike Rockenfeller has said he is 'eager' to return to action at Oschersleben this weekend as the DTM circus reconvenes after a four-week summer hiatus.

The German currently leads the title race by a healthy 45-point margin ahead of HWA Mercedes' Christian Vietoris in second while Robert Wickens trails just a further point behind in third.

Rockenfeller's main title rivals had been defending champion Bruno Spengler and Britain's Gary Paffett, but a disastrous string of races for the pair coupled with the Audi mans ultra-consistent run of late has put the BMW and Mercedes pairing dangerously close on the verge of falling out of championship contention.

The Phoenix man says his primary objective is to once again achieve a 'solid base set-up' for the weekend, something which has been pivotal in the former Le Mans winner relentless charge to the top of the standings.

“Oschersleben is very challenging in terms of driving skills and very rough on the car as well,” said Rockenfeller.

“I've always enjoyed the track. We're working on being well sorted again and starting the weekend with a good basic set-up.

“I'm looking forward to Oschersleben and am eager to see how the relative strengths will pan out.”
