Spengler handed grid penalty for Zandvoort

BMW's Bruno Spengler receives a two-place grid penalty for Zandvoort.
Reigning DTM champion Bruno Spengler has been given a two-place grid penalty next time out at Zandvoort after clashing with Robert Wickens at Oschersleben.

The all Canadian incident occurred late in the race as the pair exchanged paintwork over twelfth place – finally culminating in Spengler spinning Wickens almost into the tyres, both retiring as a result.

The DTM race stewards adjudged Spengler to have been the guilty party in the collision and will start two places lower than the position he qualifies in at Zandvoort.

The clash also destroyed Spengler's hopes of successfully defending his DTM title.
