Circuit Park Zandvoort: Farfus pressure free ahead of Zandvoort

Augusto Farfus: I have nothing to lose and go into the weekend fully motivated.
BMW's Augusto Farfus says he has nothing to lose as the Brazilian heads into this weekend's penultimate DTM round at Zandvoort with only a mathematical chance of winning the title.

Farfus stands as the only man who can stop runaway championship leader Mike Rockenfeller from clinching the title, but sits a whole 47 points adrift from the Audi man with just 50 left on the table.

Given the point's situation, Farfus not only has to win at Zandvoort this weekend but also has to rely on Rockenfeller not finishing in the top ten to even stand a chance of taking the fight to the Hockenheim finale – mission impossible.

The Brazilian also says he is hoping for stable conditions on a circuit which he believes will suit BMW but also claims tyre life at Zandvoort may play a pivotal role this weekend.

“Last year the weather was very tricky on both Saturday and Sunday,” said Farfus.

“Hopefully it will be consistent this year. If so, we should be able to put in a good performance, as this track suits our car.

“The key question will be how long the tyres last. Of all the circuits in the DTM, this track is the most aggressive on tyres. You can only win if you have the perfect race strategy.

“I have nothing to lose and go into the weekend fully motivated.”
