Hockenheimring: Priaulx happy with sixth place

Britain's Andy Priaulx satisfied with a second consecutive DTM points scoring for BMW at Hockenheim
BMW's Andy Priaulx says he pleased with his sixth place result at Hockenheim's DTM finale despite running second for much of the first stint.

Priaulx had qualified an outstanding career DTM best third and comfortably ran second for most of the first stint as the Guernseyman took advantage of race-winner, Timo Glock's poor start.

But the former-triple WTCC champion, as many others did, pitted, in hindsight, too early for the fresh wet tyre and struggled for pace as the track continued to dry.

His sixth-place finish, which was also only the RMG-mans second points scoring result of a largely frustrating year, helped BMW claim the manufacturer's title for the season in a row.

Priaulx had also reverted back to 'right foot braking' as opposed to the commonly believed to be fractionally quicker method of left foot braking for the season finale.
“I am happy to have finished sixth,” said Priaulx.
“I had a good start, a solid race and BMW won the Manufacturers' Championship, which is what we all aimed to do, and I am proud to have contributed big time to that today.

“The track was greasy and difficult. Obviously different sets of tyres produced different levels of grip.”
