2014 DTM calendar tweaked

5 December 2013

The 2014 DTM calendar was confirmed on Wednesday, following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris.

Compared to the provisional version issued back in October, there is only one minor change, with the race at the Nurburgring now taking place one week later on August 17.

All the other events and dates remain the same, although the round at the Lausitzring is subject to a contractual agreement being signed with the organiser.

“The postponement of the Nurburgring round by a week means two advantages for us”, said Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. “The teams needn't to travel from Austria's Red Bull Ring right to the Nurburgring but can prepare for the next task in the normal two-week rhythm. This reduces the stress, in particular for the mechanics and the engineers.

“In addition, the new date allows [German broadcaster] ARD to combine the coverage of DTM and the European Track and Field Championships to a top-class sports afternoon.”
