DTM Nürburgring: Di Resta: We’re on the right track

Paul di Resta: So, we seem to be on the right track. Now we need to continue pushing and do everything to go on improving.
2010 DTM champion Paul di Resta believes Mercedes are now finally on the right track following his fourth place finish at the Nurburgring.

For the first time this season Mercedes claimed the manufacturer's bragging rights by having the most number of it's machinery within the points paying positions with five C-Coupe's finishing in the top ten at the Nurburgring, compared to BMW's three and Audi's two.

Di Resta's fourth position was also a joint season best following his Oschersleben exploits but this time was achieved during normal dry-circumstances – contrary to Mercedes' two victories early in the year.

The Scot says his team's five-car brace within the top ten came as an added surprise after initially believing their C-Coupe challenger would not be able to meet the Nurburgring's challenges.

Di Resta had previously complained of a lack of Mercedes downforce in comparison to their BMW and Audi rivals earlier in the year at Budapest.

“We can be satisfied with fourth place. We had a very strong car today, especially on the option tyres,” said di Resta.

“Our pace was very good as a result. My thanks go to the team for their excellent work in preparing the car. From a team perspective, this was a good race for us today and at a circuit, which we thought, wouldn't really suit our car.

“So, we seem to be on the right track. Now we need to continue pushing and do everything to go on improving.”

Despite their points haul however, Mercedes still languish a distant third in the constructors' table and 181-points off leaders BMW.
