Jamie Green has hailed his double winning weekend at EuroSpeedway Lausitz in DTM as 'the best one in my career' after grabbing a commanding 17-point lead in the championship.

The British driver enjoyed a perfect race weekend in his Rosberg Audi RS5 DTM machine, taking two race victories and pole position for race two while finishing top of an Audi domination, who notched up successive 1-2-3-4 finishes.

Green, who switched to the 'four rings' manufacturer in 2013 after ending an eight-year partnership with Mercedes, was blown away by his achievement.

"A fantastic weekend, arguably the best one in my career," Green said. "Two victories, a commanding best time in qualifying with a half-second advantage, plus the fastest lap in both races you can hardly achieve more than that."

The 32-year-old has been a DTM title contender for a decade without ever reaching the top spot. The multiple race winner's best championship finish was a third place in 2012 in his final year with Mercedes.

Green also says he's felt competitive around the Lausitzring circuit in the past and with dominance of the Audi RS 5 DTM he was able to make it count in the races.

"I was fast at the Lausitzring before, but this year I've upped the ante," he said. "It was a mega job by everyone involved. The Audi RS 5 DTM seems to be tailor-made for me this year. Now I'm looking forward to traveling to the Norisring as the leader of the standings. It's one of my favourite tracks."
