Audi's Jamie Green turned in an impressive performance to top the FP1 leaderboard by almost half-a-second ahead of fellow Brit's Gary Pafett and Tom Blomqvist while DTM champion elect Pascal Wehrlein could only manage 19th at the Hockenheimring.

The Team Rosberg driver has endured a torrid second half of the year despite leading the championship charge early in the campaign. But Green countered his poor run of recent results and set a 1 minute 32.849 second lap to easily top the first practice running of the weekend.

Separated by only 0.005's in second and third, Mercedes' Paffett and BMW's Blomqvist completed an all British top three ahead of title protagonist Edoardo Mortara in fourth.

Team Mucke's Maximillian Gotz looks in position to maintain his recent breakthrough in form after the DTM rookie set the seventh fastest aboard his Mercedes C63 challenger. The German was just 0.070's quicker than Team RMG's Maxime Martin in eighth.

HWA's Paul di Resta was the third and final Mercedes to break the top-ten order amid a session largely dominated by Audi and BMW in ninth.

Team RBM's Augusto Farfus claimed the final spot in the top-ten after the BMW driver's time fell just 0.010's short of Di Resta's effort best effort in ninth.

BMW's Bruno Spengler has left himself with a lot of work do ahead of tomorrow's first qualifying after the Canadian, who still remains on the fringe of the title fight, ended FP1 almost 1.5's off the pace in 22nd.
