Abt Sportsline's Edoardo Mortara sets an impressive pace during the opening DTM free practice session of the season as Audi dominate the vast majority of the top-five order at the Hockenheimring.

Mortara set a telling signal of intent aboard his Abt run RS 5 to go almost 0.5's quicker than his Audi stablemate Jamie Green, who produced the second quickest effort of the afternoon.

BMW's Bruno Spengler was the only exception to Audi's top-five supremacy having placed his MTEK prepared M4 challenger in third.

Mattias Ekstrom and Nico Muller completed the remainder of the top-five for Audi while BMW's Augusto Farfus and Tom Blomqvist sandwiched the top Mercedes effort of Daniel Juncadella in sixth, seventh and eighth.

Juncadella was the first of two Mercedes runners to make the top-ten as the reigning drivers' title holders get to grips with a revised Coupe' bodywork package.

The Spaniard was joined by HWA's Paul di Resta in tenth position, while Audi's Timo Scheider nestled himself between the duo of Mercedes C63's in ninth.
