Paul di Resta has claimed his seventh career DTM pole position for race two at the 2016 season opener and is in prime position to add to his solid start to the year for Mercedes Team HWA.
The 2010 DTM champion narrowly missed out on the rostrum in yesterday's opener taking fourth place and with less success ballast on his Mercedes he produced the ideal lap to jump into provisional pole with just minutes remaining.
Despite a flurry of late improvements BMW Team MTEK's Augusto Farfus couldn't close the gap enough and will line up in second alongside the Scottish driver for the second race of the weekend.
Gary Paffett claimed a strong third in qualifying and will be joined by Maxime Martin on row two, with Robert Wickens – who claimed the fastest lap in race one – in fifth place.
Former F1 star Timo Glock partners Wickens on row three ahead of DTM rookie Esteban Ocon and his former Euro F3 rival Tom Blomqvist, as Marco Wittmann and Antonio Felix da Costa completes the top ten.
