Team RBM's Tom Blomqvist emerges from the opening DTM practice of the weekend quickest of all as BMW hit the ground running at the Red Bull Ring.
No less than five BMW M4s sprinkled the top-ten FP1 order at the Austrian Grand Prix venue with Briton Blomqvist proving to be the quickest of them all after setting a 1 minute 23.941 second lap around the 4.3 kilometre circuit.
Blomqvist was the only driver to dip under the 1 minute 24 barrier and found himself 0.101's faster than Audi's Red Bull Ring specialist Edoardo Mortara in second.
Looking to make up for the disappointment of losing his second place finish at the Hockenheimring, Team RMG's Timo Glock begins his weekend firmly planted within the top-three in third.
HWA's Maximilian Goetz was the first of only two Mercedes runners to reach the top-ten in fourth ahead of the barely separable trio of Mike Rockenfeller, Marco Wittmann and Bruno Spengler.
Just 0.027's could cover Rockenfeller, Wittmann and Spengler in fifth, sixth and seventh while Team Schnitzer's Antonio Felix da Costa was only further tenth behind in eighth.
Home hero Lucas Auer was ninth fastest for Mercedes as Team Abt's Mattias Ekstrom completed the top-ten for Audi in tenth.
Championship leader Paul di Resta produced an under the radar performance with the 15th quickest time of the afternoon.
