Red Bull Ring: Glock: This race was a dream

BMW Team RMG's Timo Glock announces himself as a serious DTM title contender after romping home to his first of 2016 at the Red Bull Ring.
BMW Team RMG's Timo Glock moves himself into the thick of the early DTM title fight after dominating today's second Austrian race at the Red Bull Ring.

The ex-F1 driver capped off a near perfect weekend for his RMG team by adding to his team mate Marco Wittmann's triumphant return to the winners circle from yesterday's opener.

Starting from third, Glock made light work of Antonio Felix da Costa and Jamie Green and seized the initiative within the first two laps of the race.

A series of hot laps during the opening phase of the race meant Glock could circumvent the threat of Green's DRS before successfully maintaining a healthy race winning margin.

“This race was a dream. It couldn't have gone any better. I was able to pull away on the initial laps and then assert my lead after that," said Glock.

"After the minor error in qualifying and the misfortune in Hockenheim, this was very satisfying, and BMW Team RMG had a perfect weekend with the wins for Marco and me.

"This makes me really happy. In general, it was a magnificent weekend for BMW.”

As a result of the top-two championship runners Paul di Resta and Edoardo Mortara both drawing a blank in race, Glock moves within six point's of the lead in third place.
