Mercedes' Paul di Resta will head to the Lausitzring with his DTM championship lead intact despite scoring just six-points at the Red Bull Ring.

The former Force India F1 driver endured a trying weekend in Austria after only gaining a best finish of seventh during the first race.

While Mercedes didn't look quite the match for BMW and Audi in qualifying trim, the C63's race pace - despite a start-line stall - did bring Di Resta closer to the points.

But a costly error in qualifying not only relegated the HWA driver to the back of the grid but also damaged the floor of his Mercedes C63.

"I almost stalled the car at the start. We need to look more closely at that. I then had a bad pit stop, unfortunately," said Di Resta.

"Later, on the final turn, other drivers didn't stick to the track limits, so I couldn't get close enough to overtake. The car clearly had plenty of pace in the race.

"Unfortunately, the floor got broken in qualifying. I'm now hoping that we'll have a better weekend at the next races."
