Lausitzring: Molina beats Green to race one pole

Miguel Molina leads an all Audi front-row ahead of Briton Jamie Green for the first DTM race at the Lausitzring.
Team Abt's Miguel Molina has clinched his first pole position of the 2016 DTM season after leading an all Audi front-row ahead of Jamie Green for the opening Lausitzring race.

Having endured a difficult start to the season so far, Molina currently sits 19th in the championship with just the solitary point to his name.

But the Spaniard looks in prime position to make a move up the championship order after beating his Audi stablemate Green to pole by just 0.077s.

Green, incidentally, was a double winner at the Lausitzring last season before his championship began to fall apart.

2014 DTM champion Marco Wittmann was one of only two BMWs to make the top-ten in third and is joined on the second row by the top Mercedes effort of Robert Wickens in fourth.

Team Mucke's Lucas Auer maintained his fine practice form to qualify fifth as HWA's Christian Vietoris ensured Mercedes completed the remainder of the top-six.

Nothing could separate Mattias Ekstrom and Maxime Martin in seventh and eighth as the pair set an identical 1 minute 16.901 second lap. Audi's Adrien Tambay and Nico Muller were the final two RS 5's to engulf the top-ten in ninth and tenth.
