Jamie Green has admitted Audi need to regain their form this weekend at the Nurburgring following a disappointing display at the Moscow Raceway.

After scoring just six-points in Russia, Green currently still represents Audi's best chance of taking the drivers' crown, 26-points adrift of BMW's Marco Wittmann.

The Team Rosberg driver endured a miserable second Moscow race after being handed two drive-through penalties on his way to a 21st place finish.

It's been a mixed bag of fortunes so far for Green this season. Of the seven points' finishes the Brit has managed to net, four of those has represented a podium finish - including his commanding win at Zandvoort.

However, Green - along with Robert Wickens - has failed to score a point on five occasions so far this season, allowing Wittmann some degree of breathing space in the title race.

Chasing his first win at Nurburgring in a DTM car this weekend, Green said: "I've never won in the DTM at the N?rburgring before. I'd like to change that and I think we've got good chances of making that happen.

"Our car should be competitive at the N?rburgring. Following the disappointment at Moscow, we need to regain our form and score as many points as possible."

With the RS 5 contingent qualifying no higher than fifth during the two races in Moscow, Audi's Head of DTM Dieter Gass is confident his team now understands the reasoning behind their under-par performance in Russia.

As a whole, Audi scored just 42-points last time out, almost half of what Mercedes and BMW managed to accumulate.

"We intend to come back with renewed strength. The championship race is intensifying. Everything is still open, and our aims are unchanged," said Gass.

"We're expecting a balanced field at the N?rburgring. And, obviously, we have to be prepared for anything in terms of weather there.

"The Moscow analysis has confirmed our original assumption that we didn't get the tires to work in qualifying. We've come up with corrective actions."
