BMW's Marco Wittmann and Mercedes' Daniel Juncadella have both been excluded from the second DTM race result at Hungaroring.

Juncadella and Wittmann finished third and fourth but both of their cars were said to have failed to complied with the technical regulations.

The breech in question relates to the underfloor of both Wittmann's BMW M4 and Juncadella's Mercedes C63 Coupe in failing to display the sufficient thickness in accordance to article 3.22.4 of the technical regulations.

Both BMW and Mercedes are appealing the decision but the provisional result of the second race could have huge implications on this season's championship fight.

As it stands, Wittmann now only leads the title race by 14 points ahead of Edoardo Mortara while Jamie Green also re-joins the battle, 39 points behind.

Juncadella had risen from twelfth to third but the Spaniard has now provisionally lost his first ever podium in the series.

As a result, Team Schnitzer's Antonio Felix da Costa inherits his first podium finish of the season after finishing fifth on the road behind the pair.
