Audi's Nico Muller has topped the final DTM practice session of 2016 ahead of title protagonist Edoardo Mortara at the Hockenheimring.
The final 30-minute running of the year was delayed by 15-minutes while the race officials waited for the early morning fog to lift.
Once the visibility improved, Team Abt's Muller proved the fastest of all for the second practice in a row after producing a 1 minute 32.850 second lap as the chequered flag fell.
His Abt Sportsline stablemate Mortara had initially rose to the top late in the session Muller's effort ousted the Italian from P1 by 0.132s.
Mike Rockenfeller and Rene Rast completed the remainder of Audi's top four lock-out ahead of BMW's Antonio Felix da Costa.
Jamie Green was the next Audi runner in sixth, just 0.002s behind Team Schnitzer's Da Costa.
Mercedes once again appeared to struggle around the German Grand Prix venue as only Paul di Resta and Gary Paffett represented the Stuttgart marque in the top-ten, sitting seventh and tenth.
BMW's Tom Blomqvist and the retiring Timo Scheider separated Di Resta and Paffett in eighth and ninth.
Championship leader Marco Wittmann never really featured during the final practice as the BMW M4 settled for 17th.
