Although most British DTM fans will be celebrating Jamie Green's pole position for the opening round at Hockenheim, many will also be applauding the sterling efforts of Susie Stoddart who will open her campaign in 17th place.

While the Brit will start from the penultimate row of the grid, the 23-year-old emerged as the second best placed rookie in her AutoScout 24 Mercedes C-Class, ahead of former GP2 and A1GP driver Mathias Lauda and also Vanina Ickx, the second of the two female drivers that will line-up this year.

Nonetheless, Stoddart is adamant that she could have been higher had she managed to get a clear lap on a circuit she is unfamiliar with. "We had a good strategy for qualifying; however, I didn't find a clear lap and was not able to show what I'm capable of. In tomorrow's race I want to improve significantly."
