Although he missed out on claiming a record-breaking seven wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours last weekend, Tom Kristensen returns to his day job of competing with Audi in the DTM as the series heads to the United Kingdom for the first time since 2003.

Having taken victory last time out at Oschersleben, Kristensen claimed the championship lead from Bernd Schneider and although the Dane remains only two points ahead of his German rival, he brings crucial experience to Brands Hatch.

A former British Touring Car driver, Kristensen was certainly on form during the pre-season test at the Kent circuit when he set the fastest time of week. However, with the 1.973km circuit proving one of the shortest on the calendar, the knockout qualifying session is set to be exceptionally tight.

It is something that Kristensen expects, particularly as Brands Hatch is not a traditional circuit compared the other tracks the series visits over the year.

"We are all looking forward to Brands Hatch. It is our first race abroad this year. Brands Hatch is stepped in tradition. 82 laps around the Indy Circuit will be incredibly tough, concentration is important.

"There is hardly a straight, it goes up and down, and the corners are exciting. At Brands Hatch everything has to slip into place if you want to win.
