Kristensen pole at Brands.

Tom Kristensen continued his charge for a first DTM title by placing his Audi on pole at Brands Hatch for the fourth round of the championship after a session red flagged after offs from Heinz Harald Frentzen and Mika Hakkinen.

Dane Kristensen set a 43.406secs lap in his Audi Sport Team Abt A4 and will be joined on the front row by Brit Jamie Green, currently fourth in the championship standings with the two former Formula One drivers who had offs in the session.

Green had topped the earlier two knockout sessions but Kristensen found the essential extra speed to displace Green from a potential home pole.

Despite his off at Paddock Hill Bend, Heinz Harald Frentzen's best time in the session was good enought to secure the German's Audi the third place on the grid for Sunday's race.

2004 champion Mattias Ekstrom will start from fourth place whilst DTM veteran Bernd Schneider, currently in second place in the standings, just two points behind Kristensen, will start from sixth place.
