Stoddart bruised after Norisring collision.

Susie Stoddart was left bruised after a collision involving herself and Daniel La Rosa in the fifth round of the DTM championship at the Norisring put the young Scot in hospital.

Stoddart had been running on the cusp of the top ten when, with 15 laps of the race remaining, she was collected by Mercedes counterpart La Rosa, the German having lost brake pressure at high speed coming into the Norisring's slowest corner, the Grundig hairpin.

Stoddart was taken to Nuremburg's Klinikum Sud but has now been released, albeit suffering from bruised ribs and a bruised elbow.

“Susie Stoddart was at Nuremberg's Klinikum Süd and she was cared for professionally,” confirmed Norbert Haug. “She suffered from bruises at her ribs and elbow and is back with us now.”

La Rosa meanwhile escaped unhurt, claiming the brake problem left him with nowhere to go but into Stoddart.

“When I braked for the Grundig hairpin suddenly the brake pressure faded,” the German said. “I managed to turn the car around; however, I couldn't avoid hitting Susie. I am very sorry and I'm glad that she's not seriously injured.”
