Kiesa set for DTM debut.

Former F1 racer Nicolas Kiesa is set to make his debut in the DTM at the Nurburgring after being called into the Futurecom TME team in place of Jeroen Bleekemolen.

The Dane, who competed in five races for Minardi towards the end of 2003 and also acted as third driver for part of last season with Jordan, has been given the nod to partner Vanina Ickx in the team run by Jordan - now Midland - team boss Colin Kolles, after finance required to keep Bleekemolen in the seat wasn't forthcoming.

It means Kiesa will now line up on the grid in the 2004-spec Audi A4 DTM on a circuit he knows well, and he admitted he was looking forward to the experience.

"I am pleased to start here,” he said. “However I know that the DTM is a very special game. I must not only learn the car, but also how this game functions. For me, the DTM is - together with the Formula One - the best series worldwide.”

Team boss Kolles was also pleased to welcome Kiesa into the team, although he admitted it was disappointing that Bleekemolen was unable to race.

"The partnership with Jeroen was outstanding and has helped us,” he said. “Therefore we regret that he cannot go further for us. However we are happy that Nicolas Kiesa, who we know from Formula One, can be given a chance in the DTM."
