Bernd Schneider has criticised title rival Tom Kristensen for needlessly blocking him in qualifying for the eighth round of the DTM at Barcelona, the German having to settle for fourth on the grid behind the Dane.
It was a tough session all round for the AMG-Mercedes quartet, with Jamie Green and Bruno Spengler proving surprise early casualties in the opening knockout phases, even if Schneider will be shadowed by team-mate Mika Hakkinen on the grid.
Emerging as the leading C-Class driver, Schneider was content with his qualifying effort, even if he has now set his sights to beat Kristensen even higher after he claims the Audi driver blocked him 'unnecessarily'.
“Actually, qualifying was quite OK, but on my final run I was unnecessarily blocked by Tom Kristensen; otherwise I would have been on the front row. Tomorrow; I want to turn the tables from the second row.”
