Carroll: Let's hope to race this time!

1 January 1901

After the disappointment of his DTM debut at Hockenheim, Adam Carroll will hope for an upturn in fortunes as the series heads to Oschersleben for the second round of the season.

Unfortunately for the Futurecom-TME driver, he found himself in the thick of the action on the opening lap of the season opener, with his 2005-spec Audi A4 being one of the cars involved in the high-speed accident that saw both Tom Kristensen and Alex Premat hospitalised, with the latter out of this weekend's event as a result.

Luckily for Carroll, the accident didn't damage his car beyond repair, with the team having worked hard to put it back in one piece, and the former GP2 racer said he was now looking forward to getting back on track to kick-start his first DTM campaign.

“I was absolutely fine after the crash and I cannot wait for this weekend,” he said. “Hopefully I'll get a better chance to show what I can do in the race. I have tested here before and it went quite well so I am looking forward to it.

“Obviously the team had to rebuild the car – the front end of the car was damaged but it was mostly body work, all the main bits, the engine and chassis were fine.”

The 24-year-old added that he had been impressed by what he has seen of the series to date and said he was now hoping to give his fans watching on something to cheer.

“The series is so professional,” he said. “The only thing which comes close is Formula 1, and I was quite shocked by the support I had from the fans. They all knew my racing history, what I had done before and they were happy I had come to race in DTM, it was quite overwhelming.

“Now I would just like to give them and my team something to cheer about!”
